Question FPS drop after installing new m.2 ssd

hello


i just installed a new m.2 ssd along side my normal one. and im getting huge fps drops.
my system specs are in the image posted.
im not sure how to upload dxdiag please let me know if you need it.

cpu around 40~50
gpu ~ 68 or so
nothing major

usage on gpu 90 ish
usage on cpu 50s

That’s a good point. Check your motherboard manual but you are probably not supposed to use the last 2 SATA ports when using an M.2 drive.

ill have to check that. i am using both m.2 drive slots and several of the sata ports.
also my cpu only goes up to 16 lanes

That cpu has 20 lanes but only 16 can be accessed by the gpu. The other 4 are reserved for motherboard features such as SATA and M.2.

so if im using 2 m.2 drives and it only has 4 reserved im over doing it with 2 of them?

so i removed my other 2 hdds and the issue persists. i also updated the bios. the same issue is still happening. im also only using sata port 1 right now.
