FPS Drops after Serveral Minutes

Hi,

I am able to play games such as GTA V and Just Cause 3 with high fps 70+ however after about 20 minutes, the framerate drops to <30 and will remain that low on all games until I restart my PC. Are there any suggestions for things that are going wrong?

CPU: intel i5 4590 (non k)
CPU Cooler: Asus Silent Knight II
GPU: msi geforce gtx 970 gaming 4g
RAM: 8192 MB DDR3 @ 799.9 MHZ
MB: asrock z97 pro3
HDD: WDC WD20EZRX-00D8PB0 and ST2000DM001-1CH164
PSU: 800W

Sounds like your cooling solution isn't good enough. Once the cards and Case hit peak temperature the card may be throttling back performance.

I don't think the cooling of the CPU is the issue, as when idle the temperature is 33°C and when gaming is 43°C. I've reduced the minimum and maximum processor states to 99% and so far, I haven't had the above issue.

The PSU is the Ezcool Ambiance 80+ 800w PSU

GPU cooling, not CPU cooling.
