Question FPS drops as disk transfer rate increases ?

Hello,
So I have had an issue with my fps for quite a while now, and I have just noticed that, when my disk transfer rate quickly increases - that is the exact moment my FPS drops - why is this and is there something failing in my PC?

I never had this issue with FPS before, until one time I system restored my PC, and its got an error mid way the restore and then my pc failed to boot, so I went into google to find a solution, and i changed loads of settings in command prompt (only thing that worked) to fix my boot issue, and I did fix it, but ever since I have had really really bad frame drops

And I just noticed every time the DISK transfer rate increase dramatically my FPS drop occurs.
Please can someone help, I just dont know what to do any more.

Sounds like a bad drive. I encountered a similar issue when I had a dying SSD. If it is your disk try open task manager and check the disk latency. If the latency keeps spiking or sits at some high latency rate (especially if its an SSD) I'd recommend try make a backup if you can to a spare drive (if you have one) and replace it.
If it is your disk failing the frame drops are likely due to the disk not being able to keep up with the rendering (so the disk isn't processing game/frame renders fast enough thus your GPU/CPU isn't receiving requests fast enough from your disk to render whatever the program is requesting to be rendered)

If your disk seems to be fine I'd take it into a shop and get them to try diagnose it.

Could try:
/sfc scannow (check for Windows errors)
CrystalDiskMark Test (check the drives health and readwrite health)
(If you know what disk it could be): File explorer, properties, "Tools" tab, run "Error Checking"

Also how do i check my disk latency?
and yes my drive is an ssd

Mod Edit: Also, since i have two ssds in my pc, would removing the failing one fix my issue?

In Task manager (Ctrl Shift Esc or just search it in the Windows search menu) under the performance tab you'll see a list of your "devices" like this:
CPU
Memory
Disk 1
Disk 2
-------
WiFi/Ethernet
etc...

If you click on a Disk it will show the current transfer rate
Check here to see how to view your Disk Latency in Task Manager
For an SSD latency over 1000ms constantly isn't great. For a HDD/SSHD latency over 2000ms constantly isn't great either

so my disk latency is really low doesn't even go over 30 ms
however the read andwrite speeds - I dont really understand but the spikes happen when the fps happens -

those are my two different drive ssds,
i dont really know much, but all i see is when the bar spikes up my fps drops a certain amount

now when im watching the read write spikes - im starting to think it might not be the actual spike that is give me the fps drop, it almost seems its the after when it drops straight back down -
I dont know if that means anything
(edit) now imnot sure - all i know is when thegraph spikes my fps drops - and i dont know why or what s going on for that to happen

What system and which drive ? A HDD and even SSD can take a lot of system resources when accessed.

So its my disk (D) its a drive called JAJS600M1TB and it has 932 GB of storage an SSD
I just don't understand whats going on, the only bit I can pin point is that the read and write graph spikes up my fps drops, and i dont know why.
The thing is about my fps drops is that it doesn't feel or look like a normal fps drop,
It feels as though when my frame drops my game is trying to load something in the background, like I can almost feel it happen, I have noticed that sometimes my fps drops and the colors of my screen kind of change or it sort of loads something in, im not to sure
sorry im just struggling to know whats going on thats all

1080 nvidia geforce gtx
2 ssds
prime b250 motherboard
24 gigs of ram
Intel core i5 7500 cpu 3.4ghz
My pc has never had an issue until I came across my restore error

and you might say to reset my pc - I have done this about 6 times the past 2 weeks, and I am also running on atlas os to see if it was a high CPU process count causing my issue, I am now running 40 processes when gaming and nothing has changed, so i know that it has to be something to do with my ssd, I have analysed each hardware using different monitoring tools, and the only thing that corresponds to my frame drops is this read and write spikage in my ssd
so i just dont know whats going on
