Fps Drops because of motherboard overheat?

Hello everyone, look here´s my problem. My computer is this:

Amd Fx 8120 2.8 Ghz
Psu Corsair 600w
Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-880GM-USB3L
ATI 7950 Twin Frozr III
8 GB RAM

I bought this card recently, i´ve noticed my fps are a solid 60 fps, for example, in BTF 3 (Multiplayer) But i have drops to 30, 25 fps. This use to happens in EVERY FUCKING GAME (F1 2012, Skyrim, Batman arkham city etc.) and it´s extremely annoying. A friend told me to look after what temperatures am i getting while i was playing. I get 60° MAX in the CPU, 45° MAX in the GPU, and 80° MAX IN THE MOTHERBOARD!. It could be this causing the low fps? (I´ve cleaned all my previous ati 6770´s drivers, so this is not the problem) I really need some help guys..

Normally, motherboard is at maximum 10°C higher then ambient temperature and normal airflow but 80°C is way too much. CPU and GPU should be way much higher then Mobo. In that kind of temperature, ur mobo should already get some burning smell.

On the other hand, CPU temp seems like ok but GPU temp seems to be quite low ( I'm not sure whether it is because of the efficiency of the Twin Frozr.

IMO, Ur mobo might have some defect sensor and register the temp too high. In order to save the parts, It might do some throttling on the components and bandwidths to reduce the heat, just like the safety mechanism in the CPU to throttle the speed down when the temp is neat the Tjunction.

Better RMA ur mobo if u still covered under the warranty and if not, u should try ur graphic card in someone's PC.

Thanks Man. But there´s something i´ve noticed. My Card is doing well because i feel the fps difference between my old card and my new card. But as i tell you, fps drop to 25 usually and then goes back to normal ,50, 60. That´s the problem, so i don´t think the graphic card is the problem. Could it help if I buy some new coolers? I didn´t say it before but i have the stock coolers the CPU came with

From the temperatures that u posted, i see no issue with CPU or GPU and seems like they are working fine and no extra cooler are needed. On the other hand, there is definitely something wrong with ur motherboard if the temperature sensor registered 80°C because normal motherboard temperature is around 30°C to 40°C at max.

IMO, you either have a faulty motherboard or spoiled temp sensor.

I strongly recommend you to RMA it if your mobo still under warranty.

If not, open ur PC casing and blow it with the normal household fan and check whether the mobo temp went down or not. If so, better re-arrange ur cable properly and install more casing fans to improve the air flow.

If you are interested, you can refer to these 2 articles about air flow.

Yeah, i´ll give it a try... But when i said that i will buy some new coolers, those will go to the motherboard and try to get more cooling. But, also, you are right i´ll have to blow it or clean it just to see if it improves something. Thanks for your help. I will do it and reply lately

Well, there´s something else i must say. In battlefield 3 SINGLEPLAYER my fps are between 40-60 (pretty well) but then in multiplayer when i look to places that consume lot of fps, yes, they went down to 40,30,25 in that order... But, i should be able to have good enough fps with my graphic card.. even if i disable AA it´s the same. Even if i put the graphics on high it runs the same!! I really don´t know if it´s the motherboard causing this problem.. People told me is a driver´s issue. But no i re-installed windows 7 four times and i cleaned all my drives with driver sweeper and nothing has changed. Seriously, i´m LOST.

Battlefield 3 is very well know for CPU dependent in multiplayer mode so, even if u have a good graphic card, u will feel the FPS drop if ur CPU can't keep up. One bad news is that even though ATI graphic cards rocks but AMD CPU is not performing well on gaming sector. Heck, there is a recent Toms's article comparing how the different graphic cards perform with different cpu and i'm shocked to find out that Radeon cards perform slower when paired with AMD cpu.

One way to find out is to Log ur CPU load and temperature and analyze when the frame drop happen so that u can find out whether ur CPU can keep up with the load. Then again, u said ur CPU max temp is 60, so i don't see any issue here unless temp sensor for cpu is spoiled as well.

In this case, the actual temp of the cpu might be 80 but the sensor registered it as 60 .Since all the cpu have built-in sensor and fail safe mechanism to throttle down the speed when the high temp is detected, it will do it's job whenever the threshold is reach but ur cpu temp sensor from mobo failed to register it coz the sensor is not working.

From the look of it, you should re-seat your CPU cooler. It is not much of a difficult procedure but u will need to buy some thermal paste. Make sure that you wipe off all the existing ones from both cpu and heat sink. If you are a bit new to this, you can just search on youtube and there are tons of vids there.

I'm still curious about your 80degC mobo temperature though, it is totally abnormal.

All right, i will follow your advice. Also, i will leave you here a picture of my mobo temperature. Maybe you can find out something: http://sphotos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/526373_10201132006407895_427699988_n.jpg

That temp is when i´m doing anything.

Nvidia GPUs are better

Well guys, i think i figured out the problem. I think the problem is the PSU. Look, a few days ago my pc shutted down without no advertise and i couldn´t turn it on. So, i took it to repair and one guy there told me that the PSU never could handle a GPU that require that much power. Why he said that to me? Because he disconnected the GPU of the mobo and the PC worked. I also proved it with my old card, and worked too. So, they said to change it to a 600 real watts psu, and i think i´m buying a cooler master PSU. Also, the guy told me that there is a possibility that the card could be burned, but, he said that it was a minimum posibility of that beacuse there was no odor, smell, nothing wrong with the card inside of it. Thank for all your help guys, i will buy the new psu and reply lately. I beg god it´s not burned!

Corsair PSU are well known for the built quality and one of the recommended brand but on the other hand cooler master PSU quality are depend on the model and not many people will recommend it. Normally, Corsair give 5years warranty and i recommend u to RMA it.

600W is far more power then what u need for ur system and it can easily drive ur system without any issue. Check ur system power requirement here.

U won't even able to play any game like u posted before if PSU can't drive the system. It will straight away shut down when u try to play the game.

Come back to the main problem, dropping of the FPS have nothing to do with PSU so, even after u change the PSU, the problem would still be there.

As i said before, i previously had an ati 6770 and it seems that the psu doesn´t have 600 REAL WATTS. So, that´s the problem.
