Hi,
Im no means a computer expert so I thought id ask for some advice!
I bought a laptop cooling mat yesterday off ebay for my ASUS ZenBook. It plugs in to my laptop via USB, and it does infact cool the CPU.
However, when I am using the cooling mat while playing games, I get massive FPS drops regularly, almost every 10 seconds or so.
EG: On Minecraft, it'll drop from 200 to 25 fps, this can last 1-5 ish seconds, then it'll go straight back up to 200fps.
Its a real pain and id love to know if its due to the cooling mat, or something completely different!
Thanks for your help!

Solution
Just tried this. No frame drops when plugged into mains, so the issue must lie in th USB not the cooling itself. Anyone got ideas of what could cause this or how to prevent?
As was said...I'd just leave it plugged in elsewhere. You may spend lots and lots of time and not figure this one out. Being it's a laptop you are limited to what you can do anyway.

For instance...it may draw too much current from the USB....and if it does....you aren't going to solve it.
Here's another idea: don't plug the mat at all, and just use it to elevate the back end of the laptop.
I did that with my old laptop and my mother board got fried bc the laptop was working too hot so I am determined this time to keep the temps down to avoid the same issue again

Here's something to try.
Plug the cooling pad into another USB source...not the PC...and see if it happens.
