So I've been getting FPS drops in all games, Its not my temps because they stay below 50c and idle at 30c and I have also cleaned out and replaced the thermal paste of my CPU chip and heatsink. I used to have a old GPU and got a new one and still having FPS drops. I ordered RAM because I thought I could use more ram and it comes in today so I'm hoping that fixes the issue otherwise I'm completely stumped.... any thoughts?

System Specs:
- Windows 10
- AMD FX- 8350 4.00ghz stock heat sink
- TA970 Biostar Mobo
- EVGA Geforce GTX 960
- Western Digital 7200 RPM 1 TB HDD
- 1 Stick of 4GB G Skill Ripjaws
- Corsair 500 watt PSU
- Rosewill Challenger Mid Tower

How much ram is enough like when I play counter strike for example its at around 2.2- 2.7gb being used it reports that 1.0gb is free so is that not enough?

i would upgrade your ram to 8 or 16 gigs. beyond that, im uncertain what could be causing fps drops in relation to components. could you clarify what kind of drops? like from what high to what low? how long does the drop last? how frequent are they? what happening in the game when the drops take place?

have you made certain you have the most recent drivers for your gpu?

So basically in my drops I get average of 150+ then it drops to 30- 50 fps for about 10 seconds and then it goes back up. Nothing intense is happening in the games it just drops. Someone from reddit said my mobo throttles at 80c and I'm trying to figure out if that is the issue by trying to find out how to disable the throttling on my mobo.... it does drop when my mobo reaches 80c... they happen frequently after the the temp on my mobo hits 80c

Yea I think that might be the issue otherwise I just turned off the throttling options on my mobo and I have another 4gb stick of ram coming today

It was actually the throttling, I had to turn off all the throttling options in my bios because when the mobo reached 80c it would throttle the CPU. Now that I changed those properties the fps is fine and stable and everything is smooth like before. I will still put that ram in my pc because you can always use more ram :p

i would also highly suggest you get some fans and make sure you're improving the case cooling. your mobo shouldnt be hitting a throttle temp, it needs some air flow or something to help dissipate that heat. remember that those throttles are there to protect the equipment from cooking itself, and you just removed that safeguard.
