So I’ve been having this problem for the past 6 months and I haven’t been able to fix it. Whenever I play a game let’s say fortnite or ark it starts off smooth at around 90 FPS then 3-5 min later it drops to 20-30 FPS then 3 min later it goes back up to 90 and so on. It’s wiered cause it doesn’t do this to CSGO.

I’ve tried cleaning the dust and installing anti-viruses but nothing seems to do it.

I’ve got a Alienware laptop which is 2 years old as of now, it’s running a GTX 970M, 16 GB of ram, i7-6700HQ

First of all check your GPU drivers, then make sure which DirectX are you running for your games if there are any options about this one, third check what processes you are running or did you install some new software before the stutters!

Write back after you've done this!

fortnite loads your gpu more than csgo. Download gpu-z and open sensors tab. let it run on backround when you play and post results on max temperatures and clock speeds. You can take a picture and post here.
If you think its cpu overheating then download HWMONITOR and run it backround, check max temps on cores after gaming.
