FPS drops in online Diablo 3 GTX 980Ti SLI???

Så when i walk around in the game alone fps are usually 300+, but as soon as i join a party and things get a little heavy I frequently go really low - like in the 20s or 30s and experience extreme choppiness.

1440p@144Hz
GTX 980 Ti SLI (Evga ref sc)
i7 4790k stock
Latest Nvidia drivers ofc

Any advice?

That's really weird. I just played through it with a friend, I'm on the AMD system below with a single GTX 970, and I never dipped below 55-60 FPS. Pretty sure all details were maxed. No way you should get 1/2 that, unless maybe there's an SLI bug???

Precisely, my cards should be PLENty for D3...
This also happens with just 1 card
