Question FPS drops

I just got a gpu , gtx 1660 ti , and have not been having a good time. Games keep freezing randomly even though it should be handle it. What could be causing this? Specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K - 72.3%
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1660-Ti - 94.3%
SSD: Crucial MX300 525GB - 91.6%
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 2TB - 86.4%
RAM: Unknown PSD38G16002 Hynix HMT451U6AFR8C-PB 12GB - 33.3%
MBD: Asus VANGUARD B85

Userbenchmark notes a high background CPU usage, so you could check Task Manager and end processes you don't need running.

Whether it plays a part or not I'm somewhat wary of the RAM you have in your PC. It looks like a 8GB + 4GB configuration. More often that not it's advised to run matched RAM in dual channel configurations for optimal performance. Also perhaps not coincidental it's identified as the weakest link in your system.
