FPS higher than refresh rate

So my monitor apparently has a refresh rate of 59 Hz, if I were to play a game such as Fortnite using that monitor what would happen?

You would be playing fortnight. Most people have higher fps.than refresh rates. If it looks messed up you can limit fps to your refresh rate and make it stop
