Question FPS i7-3770k vs i5-7600k @ 4k

Good day,

I have a 1080ti with i7-3770k @ 4.5Ghz. Would I see any improvements with i5-7600k @4.5Ghz. The Ram would be DDR4 instead of DDR3 as well. I am gaming on 4k TV.

I'm just looking for better googling skills. 2 Different CPUs with 1080ti @ 4k gaming benchmarks.

Depends on the game in question.

At 4K most of your load is going to be on the GPU.

Easiest way to answer that is, what does your CPU and GPU load look like when you game? If the CPU is at 100% all the time, then a faster CPU will help. But then you have the caveat that you are going from 8 threads to 4. But gaining IPC from the architecture improvements over the 4 generations.

So in a direct comparison the i7-3770k has more throughput, barely. But the i5-7600k has about a 15% advantage in single core output.

On the face of it, I wouldn't trade an i7 for an i5 until you get to 8th gen with the six cores, even then, an i7-8700k, i7-9700k, or i9-9900k would be the only worthwhile upgrade if you want to stick with Intel. Otherwise, a Ryzen 3600 will be a significant gain over an Ivy Bridge CPU.

What is this bundle going to cost you?

I doubt you are going to find a direct comparison between the 1080Ti and using an i5-7600k and i7-3770k, pretty big gap in time.

A quick search turned up an i7-2600k revisit by Gamer's Nexus that used an RTX 2080 Ti. Also had Haswell chips in there, but no Ivy Bridge.

No you wont see any real improvement...going from 8 threads to 4 might even show a decrease depending on game. You'll need a new motherboard and for my money there are a lot better options than a 4 core i5-7600k if you're going to go through the trouble of building a new system. Ryzen 3600 is a much better choice for the same money....even the 2600 would be a better investment.

I would not expect any gains, in modern titles. Pure 4 cores can struggle, as the games can use more resources, than the CPU can provide. A Ryzen 5 six core, or a Ryzen 7 eight core would be much better options, here.

The latest triple A titles are optimized for more than four cores/threads. Keep your i7, as going from that CPU to a i5 7600k would be a downgrade.
You'd only see an improvement in single core performance optimized games that require 4 or less threads which primarily are less demanding esports titles.
