Hi guys,

So my about 3-6 months ago I stopped playing games, my gpu was working fine then. I managed to do some overclocking of some sorts and I never had any problems.

The other day I started up a game for the first time, and my fps says its well above 100, however my game is lagging all over the place and regardless of system restarts, driver updates, and messing around in my bios, I cannot seem to get it back to its old performance. I have reset all settings to default.

How can I go about fixing this and getting a better performance out of my gpu?

My specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600
RAM:16 GB TridentZ 3200MHz
MOBO: B350 Tomahawk
GPU: 8GB ATI Radeon RX 580 Series

Solution
So I just was messing around with the 2 XMP profiles they give me in BIOS, the 3200 one causes the same 4 restarts. The first profile which is 2933MHz runs and my task manager gives me a speed of 1467MHz. Any idea what is going on or how I can make it faster? Even up to the 2667MHz?
probably underclocking itself for stability. you could manually set timings but that doesn't mean it will be stable on those modules.
I use 2400mhz ram on my ryzen 5 1600 with timings of 16-16-16-39 but again, thats not necessarily going to run on the 3200mhz sticks you have.
you can download hwinfo64 to see frequency parameters of the ram but i dont think those would be useful much given the ram will not run at 3200mhz im assuming.

Hi guys,

I bought some new ram about a month ago and just now got around to installing it. Its 3200 MHz but all I can get it my computer to recognize it at 1059Mhz. I went into my BIOS and changed it to 3200 and still nothing.

Any insight at all is appreciated! Thanks.

My specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600
RAM:16 GB TridentZ 3200MHz
MOBO: B350 Tomahawk
GPU: 8GB ATI Radeon RX 580 Series
so you got new ram and it running slow.
would be helpful to stick with 1 thread

the issue is related. ram speed effect gaming
I dont think this is the problem, my old ram was running at this speed with the same gpu. Same Ram speed, just different RAM. Do you still think that could cause issues?

When setting my bios DRAM to 3200, when exiting my computer actually turns itself on and off about 3 or 4 times before starting. I am assuming its trying to start but keeps failing so results to the old speed?

https://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/amd-ryzen-5-1600#product-specs
System Memory Specification : Up to 2667MHz
(not saying this is the cause of the issue, or that some higher timings wouldn't work)
