Hi. I just got a new pre-bulilt iBuyPower PC from Amazon.com. Unfortunately, after install DC Universe Online, SWTOR, and Batman: Arkham City, I'm getting a similar amount of fps stutters as in my older rig. I would really like this fixed. Here are my specs.

i7 2600k 3.4ghz
ATI Radeon HD 6850 CROSSFIRE

Here is my dxdiag as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really want to enjoy my games at the settings they should be able to run. Thanks.

We don't need your DX Diag report. Save it for the game programmers, they are the only ones that want it.

Did your old PC have crossfire also?

What resolution are you running these games at?

What other software do you have installed?

How long have you owned this computer?

What motherboard and PSU do you have?

What do you mean by "FPS stutters?" do you mean you have bad FPS? What FPS are you getting?

1. No, single GPU (ATI 5770 then moved to a GTX 560 Ti for 1 day but returned it becuase the performance was still bad in these games.

2. 1920x1080, but trying lower and lower to see if it changes the smoothness, it does not.

3. What do you mean "other software"?

4. Since April 30th, 2012

5. Motherboard - ASRock P67 Pro3 SE and PSU is Standard 800W

6. By stutters, I mean that my game starts out with a solid fps like 60, then as I move around, turn, enter different areas, pvp, etc, it drastically reduces and skips around anywhere between 30-60. That is with Vsync on. With it off, it will jump from 120- 75. Hopefully that makes the issue a bit more clear. I'll provide an example. In SWTOR, i'll leave a building and make a sharp left, and it'll go from 59.9 to 30 fps and stutter like hell. This happens a lot. Or in Batman: Arkham City, I'll leap off a ledge and the gliding will be brought down at least 10 fps as well creating stutters.

This is the exact PC I purchased if it helps to know.

I'd also like to add that I've been playing these games on max settings perfectly fine;

-Left 4 Dead 2
-Sniper Elite V2 (Demo)
-War Inc Battlezone (CrossfireX turned off though due to flickering/flashing)

So it's not all games, the only ones with issues so far are;

Batman: Arkham City
SWTOR
DC Universe Online

Well, the cheap ibuypower PSUs are a problem, but they should not make your games perform badly.

30 FPS is not stuttering. It's not even noticeable to most people, looks just like 60 FPS. Your FPS is not the issue.

You have a brand new system there, and you have tossed a bunch of software onto it in a small amount of time. It hasn't even finished drive indexing. Observe how active your HDD activity light is, even at idle.

Just the fact that lowering resolution does not resolve your issue is indication enough that you have either a bottleneck with storage or the CPU.

1. Let windows indexing finish and see if things get better.

2. Benchmark your HDD using ATTO or HDTune.

3. Examine your CPU temps using Real Temp. Leave it running while doing stuff to make sure the CPU is not overheating when loaded.

4. Eliminate all the junk software. Turn off anti-virus and exit anything else not absolutely needed. Then test.

I'm kind of a computer novice, so I don't really know what the first 2 things are or how to do it, but I guess I can monitor the temps. But like I said, I just got this PC so I have the warranty and refund policy etc. Should I just return it and come back to the site and ask you guys about a custom built iBuyPower instead? Because honestly, I just want to play my damn games and it doesn't seem like this PC will be able to do it.

Yeah I'll probably just do that once I get the refund. Are there any tweaks I should make to the build I posted are is it set for years?

i would stay away from asrock. they are more like a value brand soIMO they will not be good for a future proof rig. ASUS is one of the best to go for a mobo but gigabyte seems to be a good brand too if you can get a 700-800W PSU in case you want to get a new GPU or go for a crossfire/SLI setup down the road. as for a GPU i think you can get a good deal on a 7770. the CPU is a good choice but 16GB of ram may be overkill even for games down the road buti think i would still go for that amount

these are just some suggestions without seeing what your budget would be

if you plan on gaming do not get that 8150, you will regret it. Stick with Intel. If you live near a microcenter you can save a lot of money on intel cpu and mobo combos.

Thanks for all your replies everyone! I don't mean to be more of a bother, but I'm having trouble deciding on a final build. I don't want to make any more mistakes so I would really like to let a pro take over. My budget is anything below $1650.00 AFTER SHIPPING. I just want it to max SWTOR, Max Payne 3, Diablo III, Batman: Arkham City, Far Cry 3, Borderlands 2, etc. Just all the games coming out this year and next. I really hope that is achievable. Thanks again for anyone who shows me a build.

I realize that. But I don't know enough yet to decide on such a big purchase by myself. I've made the mistake once already and wasted 1000 bucks so I'd like some help on this purchase then the knowledge can come after.
