While playing minecraft, I usually run 200 fps on far fancy setting, but while recording I get around 60 fps on any setting even tiny. This is really irritating and want to know how I can get better fps while recording?

Solution

"simply buy a new hdd, install it into the drive cage in your pc, connect a sata power cable from the power supply, and connect a sata data cable from the motherboard sata port.

turn it on, then go into computer management> disk management > and format the drive and choose a drive letter, eg: D

now your done, just set your recording application to save its files onto the new D drive"

this is likely due to poor multi tasking performance from your pc, presuming you have enough ram (if not just upgrade your ram) the first steps would be to make sure your running nothing that you dont really need to be running, aka just the game and the recording software.

second would be to overclock the cpu + add better cooling if neccessary,

third would be to upgrade your cpu.

Well that because recording = more process, you can use a external hard drive for the recording location instead of your HDD/SDD so your default hard drive wouldn't be like disturb and will lessen your fps drop.

And FRAPS or other Recording app, lock your FPS @ 60/30 fps I think.

I usually go in to task manager and exit out of all tasks besides minecraft and fraps.

If there's nothing other to do can somebody tell me what I should buy so I don't lose a lot of fps whole recording?

You will always experience "lagg" if you record to the same HDD/SSD on which your operating system is located. I had the same problem until I let Fraps redirect to my 2nd HDD.

Depending on the speed, those are more expensive.

If you want a cheap 1 TB HDD - Western digital caviar blue. Very reliable and great performance for its price!

True, although fraps files easily reach the 50 GB. He will need a big USB flashdrive :p

Well if one the record is not that big he can just move the recorded video file to his hdd/sdd.

Say you have 1 TV and 2 people want to watch a different show. You'd have to quickly switch the channel back and forth so both could "try" to watch their show.

Having 2 hard drives is like having 2 TVs. Each person can watch their own show.

This can't be related to the fact that you put in a 2nd HDD, that just makes no sense :p.
Are you actually recording to the HDD which doesn't contain the operating system?

It is quite a general rule that you will experience lagg when recording to the same storage device as the one on which your operating system is located on. A 2nd storage device should fix this... it worked for me and many other =).

Also, the 2nd storage device won't decrease FPS / (maybe increase a bit), but mostly reduce the stuttering / 1 sec laggspikes.

No I just borrowed my friend's flash drive and tested it out, and it lagged out.

Is it possible to get the same FPS when recording when not?

I get 120-200 not recording. Is it possible to get that while recording? If so, please tell me. I want to know if buying a hard drive will do what I want
