fps limiter what number for 60 hz? 59, 84 or what?

With a 60 hz monitor what is the recommended fps limit one might set? I heard 60 causes worse screen tearing. I noticed that in this game Iracing the limit had by default been set to 84, so is 84 a good number and why would this be?

59 generally for a 60htz screen.

Unlimited is the best if you hope to limit screen tearing on a standard monitor. Locking at 60 is technically optimal and is what happens when vertical sync is set. Vertical sync is not perfect and causes tearing still. If you have a G-Sync or Freesync monitor with an Nvidia or AMD card, respectively, the technology in the monitor eliminates tearing.

nobody has answered why 84 seems to be a good number, i find it has also worked for me in dragon age inquisition compared to 59 or 60 where the screen tearing seems worse.
