FPS lower than expected... [GTX 980 Ti]

I will try to keep this short;

My GPU: EVGA GTX 980 Ti FTW ACX 2.0+
My CPU: i7-6700K
RAM: 16GB

From about a few months ago, I have been noticing "not-as-good-as-it-should-be" performance.
Recently, I played DOOM 2016 and instantly realised that my FPS were about 35 FPS OFF! (at some parts, atleast), I was able to tell because I had made a video of me showcasing DOOM's arcade mode in which I was getting stable 130-150 FPS (in the first 2-3 minutes). Not only that, my FPS dropped to 50 at one point (it remained 50 there) when I was playing SkyrimSE. Same thing happened in FFXV. Needless to say, I was pissed.

I did Superposition Benchmarks and my score was 3862, which is pretty normal for my GPU, which leads me to my question. What in the world could be causing my FPS to drop so much? Please tell, I am very worried. Thank you!

Could be thermal paste getting dried out causing warmer temps and the cpu to throttle back more. just an idea

Replaced it recently and the temps are normal. From 35C to 45C

35c to 45c is not that warm a gpu typically should be 70-80c under load. check to make sure gpu is hitting 100% load if not something is bottle necking your gpu and your low frame rates are not because of the GPU itself

Have you recently dissassembled the gpu from mobo?
Which connectors did you use?
Sometimes using 2x from single line can do that, cause gpu senses instability on 12V rail.
Try to use 2 seperate 6pin and 8pin cables directly from PSU.

I meant that for the CPU as you mentioned the CPU throttling. Sorry for the confusion.

I did actually disassemble the GPU (*my cables are separate) but I think I know what could be causing the problem, for some reason, the GPU usage drops from about 100% to about 50% which causes the frames to drop, if you know how I can fix that, please tell.
