FPS lower than it should be

So I have a custom built computer that should run any game on ultra with no problem (in my opinion anyways). For some games, it does just that (farcry 3, bioshock infinite, etc.) but for a lot of games it really disappoints me (WoW, DayZ mod and standalone, fallout new vegas). I feel like my computer is not running correctly for some reason in these games because I only get good frame rates on very low settings, and even then it's only about 30 FPS. Also, my computer gets very hot while doing these tasks (55-70 degrees celcius). Please help me try to figure out my problem!

Computer Specs:
- SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7970 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card OC with Boost
- AMD FX-6200 Zambezi 3.8GHz (4.1GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor FD6200FRGUBOX
- ASUS M5A97 R2.0 Motherboard
- COOLMAX ZU Series ZU-900B 900W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply
- 8GB of Ram

With respect to games like WoW and DayZ, getting a better (eight-core) CPU isn't going to improve performance. Because if they can't use six cores, they won't use eight. In later games like Battlefield 4, you will see the benefit of the extra cores.

So, an FX 8320 or 8350 if you want to upgrade. But it's not worth it in my opinion.

You have a really great GPU in the 7970, but IMO, I think your processor is bottlenecking your GPU. CPUs also contribute to the total FPS of your system. Another thing I'm seeing, is that your motherboard's PCI-E is 2.0. It's not affecting your GPU's max potential that much, but it can still contribute to the total FPS you're getting.

As for the temps, you should be getting an aftermarket cooler for your CPU, or add more case fans to help the ventilation of your system.

Thank you for both of your answers! Any suggestions on coolers I should put in? (Have tons of room in my coolmax case). Also, any suggestions on how I should overclock my CPU and to what extent, or what other CPU I should get in order to not bottleneck my GPU? Thank you in advance!
