Hello all.
As the title states I have FPS issues...
In Chivalry : medieval warfare, I experience low fps (20-30) at maximum settings. (Low settings make little difference)
In Skyrim (maximum settings), I experience 60 fps but with frequent stutters. (Low settings make little difference)

My GPU ,in Chivalry, is at around 50% load on average and 75 to 80 degrees Celsius.
My CPU ,in Chivalry, is (on all cores) 70% load and 65 to 70 degrees.

My specs:
CPU : Q6600 (cannot OC because of bad chipset choice)
Motherboard : Intel DQ45CB
RAM : 4GB of unbranded DDR2 , 800 mhz
GPU : XFX HD7970
PSU : Corsair VS550 (550 w)

If the GPU is bottlenecked please can you recommend a suitable upgrade for CPU.

Solution
I'd say both games are very cpu intensive. So you need a new CPU I'd recommend at this point in time something like an Intel i5 6600k. I'd pair it with 8 or 16GB DDR4 (No point getting DDR3 anymore as prices are about the same and the future is DDR4 not DDR3).

Your 4GB of DDR2 could also be causing the stuttering in Skyrim but... ~$85 for a stick of DDR2 isn't where I would spend my money. As a note 70% usage on a four core chip for CPU could mean the game is fully using 2 cores and most of a third. So in that essence the game is pushing your CPU but your CPU can't produce the frames quick enough to push the GPU to 100% this is further shown when you dropped the settings down and saw little to no differences.

Thank you everybody for the quick responses.
I don't know why I did not mention this earlier but I have a prebuilt computer containing and I7 4790(not k) + 12 GB of DDR3.
I would like to ask (now knowing for sure that my CPU is the holdup) for any cheap/basic LGA 1150 Motherboard under £50($66.66)?
Thank you again
