If im only getting 70 to 100 hz IN GAME. Do i need to adjust the in game settings to be over 144hz to take full advantage of a 144hz monitor? For example The Witcher im getting 70 to 80 frames in game on ultra settings.. should i downgrade the settings to high or mid to achieve over 144hz in game to take full potential of the monitor?

Is that how it works?

Solution

It can get a little complicated. However, there's not much point in having a 144Hz monitor if your FPS aren't at least close to 144FPS. Whether or not you need to change your settings, or whether you should consider a hardware upgrade, will depend on the current system specifications.

In the meantime, you can either try dropping down a quality step, or try dropping down...
No the monitor will simply output the frame rates. to get 144fps average on The Witcher , you will have to reduce the graphics quality to point that you might as well of bought a PS3. 70-100 is fine. 70-144fps also does't matter for games like The Witcher. 144fps is only useful for competitive CS GO users

I have a $2200 computer build with a 1080ti.. this is my first build.. on pub g with ultra settings my fps is like 100 to 120.. i would want to lower the settings to high to be getting over 144hz to he using the full potential then correct?

Pointless thread! Lower your settings if 144hz gets you going!
