I'm looking to buy the Fractal Define R5 and am debating weather to get the windowed version or not. The non-windowed version has sound dampening foam all along the side panel but the windowed has some but most of it is covered by a window. I was just wondering if this will affect the overall sound dampening performance of the case or if it will work just as fine.

There will probably be a slight sound dampening loss with the window. I cannot tell you for sure how much, though. I think it's still mostly a cosmetic choice in the end, though. If anyone has some data that shows a significant difference, though, please do correct me.

He's right, other than a very minor sound dampening loss and $10+ for the windowed version, it's all up to you. If you want to see your pc running, get the windowed. If your pc components doesn't look cool to you or you want to save some money, go for the non-windowed one. I myself am going for the windowed one (I'm gonna buy one soon).
