Great afternoon everyone, my friend is having a fps problem with some games, he has the same processor as mine, an i5-10400f and has a better card than mine (I have a gtx 1660 super) my friend has a rtx 2060, and both have 16GB of ram, I use windows 11 and he uses Win10, the drivers are up to date but when he plays Valorant he has fps breaks, we decided to do a test, we put the same game settings in Valorant/Fortnite, everything in low in both towers, in mine runs smoothly above 300 fps, and in his he has frame breaks, it happens when he turns the view to the right and left. I think it might be the displayPort cable that can't handle it, he has a 165hz monitor but he likes to play with no svync with 240 fps, we benchmarked the graphics and it doesn't have frame breaks, we benchmarked the m.2 disk and it has good readings and writes, even in games like League of Legends and Cs:Go it has frame breaks.
In fortnite the same thing happens, both in low settings, mine runs smoothly at 144hz but sometimes it goes down and his gets a lot of frame breaks.
Recently we played a game similar to Apex Legends and Fortnite, it's called Farligth84, in this game he doesn't have problems with the fps, it runs smoothly.
I think it's a problem with the m.2 ssd, I have no idea...

A few days ago none of this was happening, fortnite was running smoothly, but not now. He told me that he started having problems when he changed some settings in Nvidia, but even if I reset the settings and formatted the pc, it didn't work.
We benchmarked the two graphics with MSI kombustor, and his graphics have no problems, and it is obvious that it manages to have more fps than mine. But in games, that doesn't happen anymore.

The desktop is new, he bought a few days ago.
Could someone help him?

It's interesting to note that the problem seems to be game-dependent. Here are some things that might help:
  1. Check your Internet connection: Even though you might not think it's the issue, sometimes it can contribute to frame drops. Use a tool like Speedtest to check your latency - you'll want it to be less than 50ms for optimal online gaming.
  2. Change in-game graphics settings: Try disabling settings like Shadow Quality and Anti-aliasing. Adjusting settings like Texture Quality, Shader Quality, and Particle Quality to lower levels could also help reduce the frame drop levels.
  3. Update GPU drivers: You've mentioned that your drivers are up to date, but just to be sure, you can manually update them via the Device Manager. Alternatively, using a driver update tool like DriverFix could help ensure all your drivers are up-to-date.
Finally, frame drops can sometimes be caused by overheating. If your friend's system is getting hot under load, it might be worth looking into cooling solutions.

Here's an article that goes into more detail about these suggestions.
