Question Frame rate drops massively with certain apps. (eg: NordVPN)

I bought a decent PC recently that can handle any app or game just fine and it has been working fine up until recently when I noticed that when i use an desktop app like Spotify or NordVPN my frames drop significantly (like 10 - 30 fps), but only when the app is selected.

I normally run at 100+fps in 1440p. Games all play normally with great fps. If I am on a blank desktop or if I am on a web browser, I get great fps. If the tab is visible in the background or minimized I have no issues, but if it is the selected window it lags. What could be the cause of this?

I can see this with a VPN since thats the nature of a VPN, adds delays, but it happens with only Spotify?
Have you checked your networks speeds? How much speed are you getting and how much are you paying for?
Are you cabled or on Wifi?

Nothing to do with internet speed as they are fine, i am on australian NBN.
It used to happen with spotify about a long time ago and that went away (no idea how).
But now it happens with Nord and can barely move my mouse across my screen when using app.
I have seen people with same problems looking for help on internet but with no help.
Could it be interference with another app or program running?
