Hey there, I was hoping to look for a frameless monitor that I could use for gaming. My budget is about $250 max and I was hoping for a decent response time (1-7ms) and IF POSSIBLE 144hz. My perfect size would be about 23" but I am able to fit a 27" one as well. have already found a $200 curved monitor (see link below) but I didn't know if there was a catch to getting that monitor.
AUSTRALIA STORE OR WEBSITE PLEASE.

Curved monitor from Samsung:

Solution
no, sorry.
Given your budget, do you have a decent GPU to worry about fps over 60?

As a guess to your capabilities id find a good VA or IPS 60hz 24" panel (not a TN panel or 23 point whatever, at that size every mm counts).

Strongly recommend against curved monitors below 30+ inches.
Also curved TVs at all sizes for that matter.
Your budget is low & frankly im surprised you were able to find that samsung. most of the 24" 144hz start around $330 AU.

Ok thanks for the quick reply. Do you know any monitors for a cheaper price but still have a good response time and refresh rate?

I'll be getting a rx 580 with a ryzen 3 1300x. That should be able to get decent frames, without bottle necking too much. Thanks for the help. Much appreciated.

Yep, go for a good quality VA 24" 60hz panel. (that you can afford) Samsung, LG, BenQ. check the specs that you aren't buying a TN.

Response time doesn't really matter. they all anywhere from 1-6 and most of us wouldn't be able to tell difference.
Quality though? - back light bleed, colour reproduction / uniformity? everyone would notice. most importantly you

Ok great I'll have a look into that. Just one more question, why would you recommend against the curved monitor under 30"?

Here's one to consider: Lenovo L24q 23.8". The monitor is 2560x 1440p and 60Hz. Also an IPS display.

That's the one I'm using right now, and I have a EVGA 1060 6GB. I run all my games at max settings and my fans don't even run, unless I turn off VSync and uncap the FPS. Also, you should consider buying a 1060 6GB over a rx 580, if you haven't bought the rx 580 yet.

Hey, I had a look at that monitor you suggested, but it is a little pricy for me. Sorry if I wasn't clear, $200-230 aud. Also, why the 1060 vs 580? Just curious.

They pretty much offer the same performance, and are around the same price, with the RX 580 usually only being a little more expensive. However, I've heard that RX 580's have had thermal issues.

Oh ok, i'll be getting mine from a store so i could always just hand it back in. Here is the link to the one.

I will be using an ASRock AB350 Pro4, I was wondering if this would have or strike any major issues in terms of bottlenecking and performance.
