my computer is pretty strong and every game I've played on it has run with a flawless framerate on the highest graphics. recently however, I played Overwatch (a game that used to run fine) and found that the framerate was consistently slower and choppier. I set the graphics to low but the framerate still dropped everytime there were large particle effects on screen. the same happened in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. the game used to run flawlessly with absolutely no framerate issues, but I played it yesterday and found it was slow and choppy. I checked that all my drivers are completely up to date already. What could I do to fix this?

Check your Amd Overdrive settings in your driver. Somehow, mine got set to -50%. I set it back to 0% and it was back to normal. I hope this helps.

I ran some full malware scans and nothing came up, no new software has been installed recently.

thanks for the tip, but it didn't help. I gave my driver some more power in MSI Afterburner but it didn't help at all.
