Hello,
I playing Splinter Cell:Blacklist, and
I currently have a somewhat good PC gaming set up. Specs are:
AMD Athlon II x4 620 processor
GTX 760 Graphics card
20gb RAM

Even when I play with the lowest graphics setting, including switching to DirectX9, I am still only getting 25-35 fps max. What can I do?

Edit: I have updated and also tried reinstalling drivers for graphics card. Also tried Gamebooster.

Solution
Unfortunately the game simply does not run well on older AMD CPUs. I would guess the game has not been optimized for AMD's older CPU architecture. See below CPU performance chart with a GTX Titan. If you want better performance you will need to upgrade the CPU to something more modern.

Just going off that list, the FX-6300 / FX-6350 should be fine. It is less expensive than a quad core Intel CPU like the i5-3570k, however in games that are very CPU intensive like Skyrim, an Intel CPU will give your better performance. However, the FX-6300 / FX-6350 has good performance for the price you pay.

You can buy the FX-6300 for $100 until the end of the month @ Newegg.com

The FX-6350 is selling for $140 so that makes the FX-6300 a better deal.

For RAM, you want DDR3-1866. If you want to overclock the FX-6300 to get "free performance", then go to the overclocking subforum in the following link to post a question. It's been some time since I had an AMD CPU.

Yeah that's fine. It will probably limit the overclocking potential of the FX-6300, but at least you have it and don't to spend more money. Like I said, you should post a question regarding the FX-6300 (or FX-6350) in the Overclocking sub-forum since I am not really familiar with overclocking current AMD CPUs.
