Question Frametime spikes in games with an MSI 4080 ?

Hello,

I have recently updated my cpu and GPU and noticed games started to stutter noticeably. Games like PUBG, Super people, cs go, warzone 2 get occasional stuttering when playing. I am trying to figure out is there a fault in my GPU or any other hardware. On my old CPU and GPU i did not get these issues.

Things that I have tried:
  • DDU drivers
  • Disable/enable xmp
  • Removed game bar
  • Reinstalled games
  • FPS caps to monitor hz
  • Malware clean up
None of this helps... really hoping that there is anyone on this forum to give me guidance because I am pretty new to this and don't know what to do.

My current set up:
Ryzen 5800X3D (an upgrade from a 5800X)
MSI 4080 Gaming Trio (an upgrade from a Gigabyte 3070 Gaming OC)
b550 gaming gigabyte motherboard
16 gig ram 3200
corsair rm750x
samsung m2 ssd 1tb

Here is an analysis of one small game in pubg:

Also some spikes in heaven as well:

What was your old CPU/GPU? And are you sure 750x is enough power for your PC? Someone else has to confirm this.
Old cpu and gpu were 5800x and 3070. So did not even get near max PSU usage...

Currently, a struggling PSU is also my guess, but MSI / Nvidia recommends a 750w and all calculators say I'm fine.

I wonder if it is due to the very high frame rates in this game. Can you please test the Cyberpunk 2077 benchmark and record the frame times and graph? would be interesting to see the test in a very demanding game, but lower framerates. Do it with raytracing (utra/psycho), without raytracing and with raytracing (ultra/psycho) with DLSS quality. If you don't own Cyberpunk you can download the free demo which includes the benchmark.

hey, thanks for the reply.

I have tested cyberpunk and even with raytracing i did not have stutters. Apex also nothing mayor.

So by now I've reinstalled my windows, rechecked GPU connections, set GPU power limits to lower to see if anything fixes PUBG and I still get the stuttering there.

I am now coming to a conclusion that best solution is to uninstall PUBG, as it seems like the game itself is the problem.

So I have reinstalled windows, tried all available GPU drivers and still get stutters.
I am pretty desperate at this stage...

One thing I've noticed, CS GO spikes and stutters occur with a 30 sec interval or so:

Also, sometimes my 165hz monitor drops to 120hz when starting cs GO

Driver faulty mby?

Are you using Adaptive Sync by any chance? I sometimes get stutters when Adaptive Sync is turned on in the GeForce driver. My monitor is not G-Sync certified but does support Adaptive Sync. When I turn it off in the driver, things feel more smooth overall.
