Good point reynod. Perhaps putting the Arab League in charge of the operation would be the way to go. Libya may not turn out how the US or the western world wants, but it would be a practical solution. Trouble is getting the Arab League to commit troops and such to the operation.

Well the UAE sent in some planes.

Bout time someone else got their feet wet.

If the Arab League are supporting the initiative then they should support the rebs.

problem is that the majority of arab countries are barely out of nomadic feudalism ... I can't see anyone there who could organise much past a p!ssup at a Budwieser factory.

Lawrence isn't going to help them either ...

The West will not lift a finger in defense of whites in former Rhodesia or S. Africa. Mugabe has killed and Murdered almost the entire white population and now cannot even feed his own people as whited were the one who developed and sustained farming there. S. Africa is slowly doing the same thing.

Problem is the white portion of the population in SA and Zim generated 95% of the revenue streams for those countries.

New peaceful partnerships between these groups need to be forged in order for them to prosper and move forward.

All current evidence points towards a rapid decline ... hence why so many with funds have left the sinking ships.

It is hard to see either country regaining their former glory in a short time.

I know quite a few people who have immigrated here and they are saddened by what has occured.

I am not condoning for one second the atrocities that were allowed to go on for so long while we all watched either.

No solutions seem to have been found that are not wanting though.

I concur. The situation throughout Africa is horrid when it comes to establishing proper economic structures so the people can reap the benefits of their nations' natural resources. You have a country like Libya, who has some oil, but all of that money went straight to Gaddafi's bank account in the US and wherever else he send it. If a wealth sharing system could be formulated and abided by, at least in free market terms, I suspect that many nations in Africa would be much better off than they are today. Trouble is finding honest, good people who are capable of administering such a system and not taking it all for themselves.

NATO has confirmed that (weather permitting) it’s sortie rate has not decreased. NATO has also confirmed that it has no shortage of assets and that the US currently has about 50 planes operating as part of the NATO mission.

I understand that NATO is in the process of replacing some of the strike aircraft for ground attack aircraft, - which makes sense as Gaddafi’s air force is no longer a threat.

The NATO blockade will continue to weaken Gaddafi’s resources and his supplies of fuel, ammunition and men.

At the same time the rebels are getting better organised; they now have a command structure and decent communications systems. It is also believed that the West and Egypt have special forces on the ground who are training the rebels in anti-tank warfare.

The economic embargo will soon start to hurt Gaddafi whilst the rebels will continue to receive revenues from oil exports (with the assistance of Qatar who is marketing the Libyan rebels’ crude).

Gaddafi’s fall my occur sooner than many expect.

I'm waiting to see, but not holding my breath, on whether he voluntarily steps down. I suspect that if more of his top cronies defect and the ground forces are slowly decimated by the rebels and NATO, he may go. However, his ground forced are still holding strong, so he may hold out for quite sometime. If NATO wants to end this, they'll find out where Gaddafi is and try to take him by force, preferably alive so he can be made to account for his crimes against his people.

Send the CIA! I don't care, we won't get any oil like we did in Iraq. Plus, Libya only produces 2% or world GDP of Oil...not really significant if you ask me for the surge in prices.

And don't bother Egypt in this whole thing. They had Hell with Mubarak.

Obviously, he has yet to step aside voluntarily yet, which is why it appears NATO is targeting him now.

The CIA is a means of providing a bit more "invisible" presence on the ground to gather intel about the rebels and provide training. Sending in the military would be just a tad obvious for the psychies of the American public at this point.

Hi there!

I'm French (so excuse my language.... and my president).
I found very interesting in knowing about "non-european" point of view on this topic.
I keep reading (and maybe, i'll try to participate a little)

Bonjour.

as Americans, we like to speak our mind when it comes to politics. Are culture may not seem that different than Europe, but under a microscope, it is.

Salut ^^

Of course there are differences between our cultures, we may not apprehend politic by the same way (is this fu****g sentence correct?) . Added to that, i was wondering about informations and nuances we could get from our respective newspaper&TVnews (started when i began to watch Canadian news on tv)

The Real Lit-up is those Harriers Jets from Britain needing ten minutes to raise from Underwater, giving you ten minutes to hype-up another Major Player or Ace is entering the Mix! Which Ace do you bet on Britain or Libya?
Kinda of makes me think of Final Fantasy Lit Magic vs. Voodoo Naplam(1967)! All these posts get me into Futuristic Movies 2000 with 1967 Vietnam Mentality, Such as Watchmen 2009-Nightmare on Elmstreet 2010- Batman Under the Red Hood Animation 2010! Even VideoGames such as F.e.a.r. 2005 and The Movie Silent Hills Project Origins!

Like the History Lesson Movies such as the Fog 2005 Ending This Your Crime Ending with the Ghost Pirate Ship & Sleepy Hollow Ending! Don't mess in Titles of Real Estate Affairs with Martin Von Buren! Fallout 3 Van Buren was Cancelled which was a game looking to play! Fallout 1&2 was cool game with Interplay-Black Isle Studios-Bioware!
