hi folks,

i downloaded and installed the frankenstein mod and after i activate the
mod i get the following error

"map:air01 idrenderworldload::initfrommap: maps/air01.proc not found
game map shutdown."

anybody have any idea what this is and how to fix it?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like:

A) you didn't get all the files extracted (if the mod isn't a .pk4 file,
make sure you extract the entire archive, not just the .map file)

B) the mod is incomplete (not likely if other people have posted reviews)

C) The map is not compiled by the creator and has to be compiled before
you can play it.

My advice to you:

Open the archive that you downloaded that contained the mod and read the
installation instructions (if any) in the readme.

Try reinstalling the mod and seeing if that works.

Search for the file that won't load in doom 3 in the archive. If it
isn't there, you either need to compile the map, or it is an incomplete mod.

To compile the map:

"Start up Doom and type: "dmap maps/yourpathinfo/yourmapname" or press
the bsp button in the editor.
That's it. Doom will compile your map in a few seconds and you're ready
to walk through."

- Excerpt from http://www.doom3world.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=3

So if your map is named "testmap," for example, go into Doom3, bring
down the console with CTRL+ALT+TILDE (~ or `) and type dmap maps/testmap

Alternatively, you can just boot up doom3radiant (either start doom3.exe
with the +editor parameter or type "editor" in the console), open the
map, and press the BSP button.

Out of those three sources of problems, I'd say problem A would be the
most likely. Try reinstalling following the creator's directions to the
word.

Good luck!

the mod is in a .pk4 file. i downloed this from several sources figuring
it may have not been complete. all the downloads were identical.

i read the install instruction a few times. there is not much to
installing it.

like i said above. i did this. i may be one of the few that will read in
install instruction before i even think about installing any thing, not
just doom 3 mods.
