Fraps File Type Questions

Recently I installed Fraps on my First DIY PC. However, all footage automatically saves in AVI format, which Windows 8 does not have a player for. So I need one of two things- 1, a program that converts .AVI videos into a playable format, or 2, a tutorial on how to set the the file type Fraps uses by default. Thanks for your help

Thanks for the help. Another question- is there anyway to set Fraps to not split up the file? I have 50 2 minute files :/
