Okay, I've been using a computer since DOS, and was doing great with Windows 10 but recently upgraded a PC that I have to Windows 11 and that is when it appears to have started saving all files to OneDrive.

And one thing I notice now is that files I thought were in the folder I am not able to pre-view them. This takeover of my files really sucks by OneDrive.

I don't want to use OneDrive. I don't want all my files saved to OneDrive. I used to be into knowing all things PC but I am not that interested anymore in that type of thing. I just want to use PC and save files locally. I have a NAS for storing stuff as well.

But now let say I save a file, usually pictures Jpg pictures to a folder on my desktop they appear to all get stored on Onedrive and not my desktop, and who know wherelse on my PC.

What the heck is going on

I will say I would like to save a couple of files on the free space provided at OneDrive but of my own doing. I don't want OneDrive to assume control of all the files on my Desktop.

Do I need to reinstall Windows 11 and do something different. How can I recover some of the files that is seems OneDrive has highjacked. How can I get my Desktop and whatever else to be mine, stored locally?

Can you uninstall OneDrive from Win 11 ?
I did, but my desktop and elsewhere is linked to OneDrive. And I've lost files now. This really sucks this takeover of my PC by OneDrive. They are really forcing their pay for play services. As I have lost very important files now. I'm really pissed. At this point I think I should find out if I can reinstall Windows with a fresh installation that will unlink Onedrive from everything  But my product key for my stand alone MS Office was in a notepad file that is now gone among many other things   Freakin' MS.

LibreOffice is free and can read & write MS Office formats. As far as reading of files.
Fetching from OneDrive, have to reinstall OneDrive and uninstall again, just for that purpose.
