Question free alternative to macrium reflect

Uses the linux dd command to make a perfect 1:1 copy of a drive can even use compression to make the file smaller.

Downside, needs a running windows environment to restore the clone.
Having a windows PE usb drive is a good way to use this on a non booting system.

Clonezilla have being my choice for many years now.

It runs on a Debian Linux core and doesn't need a working windows environoment to work. It does support compression of image files.

Begin in a test environment where failures of any sort do not lose data.

I use Macrium Reflect but have been thinking about other non-third party options.
