Most of them are greedy and want money for objects. Are there any good
websites to get objects for free?

I don't know how to make them.

Check out http://www.livin-it-up.net/

You don't have to pay for objects if you don't want to
there are great sites out there that offer really cool stuff for free
Just today I downloaded 4 extremely awesome hairstyles from Happy Honey
Hut...the person who does them...is just so cool to offer them for free.

When the milkshape plug-in becomes less buggy and more stable
and people start to make awesome 3D objects..
Oh my stars..at modthesims2.com I saw someone making a "torture table"
complete with chains and the like
I nearly salivated....I play my goth Sims really hard (all 2 of them!) and
they are pretty much a favourite in the terms of gameplay...so to have these
objects...OOoer and they are trying to come up with a vampire coffin so your
vampire Sims can sleep in it
HOW COOL IS THAT?

I know I sound like a 13 yr old geek when I say that but I don't care
😉

Oh dear! Be ready for an onslaugh he hehe...... There are many sites
that have free downloads. Try

However, why do you think that all those talented sims artists out there
are obligated to make things for you to use in your game for free? I am
overwhelmed by the time and effort and creative juices that go into making
something to enhance our gameplay. I do think some of the prices are a

<snip>

They're not obligated, but OTOH, the Sims 2 is just about the only
game I've seen where modders are allowed to charge for objects and
such. It's definitely unusual. And not to knock them, it certainly
takes a whole lot more effort to write an entire adventure for
Neverwinter Nights or Morrowind or come up with something like
Counterstrike than to recolor a bed or make a skin. And a lot of the
"hacked" objects so far are simple taken from cheat objects Maxis left
in the game.

If anyone deserves money for making stuff for the Sims 2, it's Quaxi,
for what he's done with SimPE (and those that have helped). Or the guy
who made the hack scanner. Most of the rest, like the TSR people, are
just parasites.

You know, I have to say this here. In sims1, I could see more for paying
for objects because people were making unique objects, not just recolors.
Until we can make real unique objects in sims2, I really don't see how
people can charge (well, read that as don't agree). They are just
recolors..............not really anything different, just more pleasing to
the eye.
Once the ability to add original objects to the game becomes a reality, then
I can see paying for objects.
Still I would only pay for ones from a handful of sites, just cause of the
quality they have shown in the past.

recolours are pretty easy
making custom items aren't

so until there is custom objects...I won't pay for any paysites
unless they have bitchin' custom skins

*I miss TSR!*
one day soon...

The one place I would consider paying for recolors would be Wood4Sims.
http://www.wood4sims2.de/pages/homepage_english.php

However, what with medical bills, things are going to be rather tight for a
while here 🙁

I hope everything is ok Bluegenie!

And I think I spoke off the mark here...recolours mean retextures right?
I guess if the object maker made the retextures I guess it would be hard
work

I've always liked Wood for Sims...but I could never afford it
:/

One thing that I have found with Sims2 recolors as opposed to Sims1. The
couches and loveseats use the same graphics, so you only need to redo one of
them to get both. With the club set, chair-loveseat-sofa, you do the
loveseat and you get all three. In sims1, we had to do each one separately.
