Hey guys,
I'll keep this short and sweet. Here's my current configuration:
Chenbro RM42300 4U Case
ASUS P8-Z68-V 1155 Motherboard
i3-2100
8GB kit (2x4GB) 1600mHz
700W OCZ modular PSU
6 x Seagate 3TB Barracuda drives
6 x Vantec EZSwap 4 hot swap bays
I'm mostly interested in upgrading my RAM and at the same time, may as well upgrade to ECC.
So I'm looking for a recommendation for a motherboard. I'm looking to spend as little as possible (MAX $200 for the mobo) and if there's an 1155 motherboard still available, that'd be awesome (otherwise I gotta pick up a new CPU). Here's a few features I'm looking for (not mandatory):
-Many SATA3 (6Gb/s) ports. Min 6 for the drives + more for SSDs
-Dual LAN with WOL support
-Pins for chassis intrusion switch and LAN LEDs (I have 2 on my case)
Finally, hoping to get some input on the use of an SSD as a write-cache. I'm having issues when watching TV directly off the NAS (stuttering) and everything is gigabit. [strike]Also, would using a cheap dedicated GPU help (I'm thinking it would help with the RAM)?[/strike]
Any help would be appreciated. I'm well experienced in the Windows environment and used to building gaming pcs but I'm somewhat of a n00b with linux.
Thanks
-Trev
