FreeSync doesn’t work PLEASE HELP!!

I recently bought the AOC G2590VXQ 75hz FreeSync monitor and I've tried FreeSync on my gtx 1060 using DisplayPort (nvidia just made this a thing so don't say I need an amd graphics card). "Gsync, Gsync compatible" shows up in nvidia control panel and I can activate it. There's a day and night difference so I know it's *cough* "working". It's smooth except every like 3rd or less second the whole picture lags/stutters or whatever you would call it, it happens even more when the fps drops like 10 frames (commonly from 70 to 60 or so) but that's still within the FreeSync range. It's the same in all games and in games where I get more than 75fps I limit the fps to 74 in RivaTuner so it never goes above 75. What's the cause and are there any fixes? Any help or ideas are highly appreciated!! :)

I can’t find an option to turn freesync on and off in the osd menu but if I enable ”Gsync, Gsync compatible” in the nvidia control panel it simply says ”FreeSync” instead of 75hz on vertical refresh rate in the osd menu. I also feel a difference, like it is smoother except when the problem occurs so I think the freesync is turned on but it just doesn’t work properly.

can you list the full rig? Sounds like freesync is working. however, Nvidia did only post 10 models and more coming I think among 300+ freesync monitors they tested. This means freesync may work on different level across the board. It could be the monitor you have is less compatible but better than nothing if no other issues with your rig.
