Hi guys.

I have a monitor with Freesync via HDMI (Samsung S24F350 (supported on AMD list)).

I have the new Sapphire RX 480 Nitro+ OC GPU, but i can't get Freesync to work.

I have the newest Crimson driver (16.7.3), updatet monitor firmwire, enabled Freesync on the monitors OSD, but norhing helps. Crimson still says Freesync not supported.
I use the HDMI cable which came with the monitor at it says: High speed HDMI with Ethernet, so i belive it should be ok. I can't use a DP cable because my monitor only has a VGA and HDMI port.

Thanks

PS. Sorry for my bad english, isen't my nr 1 language.

Solution
Finally got mine to work. With an rma. Samsung guy who tested it couldn't get it to work either, so he changed the board inside the monitor. It recognized freesync the second I plugged it in to the computer.

NP:) my best guess is that the HDMI cable isen't 2.0 as AMD claims it has to be for Freesync via HDMI.

If true, it does not make any sense that Samsung would put a non Freesync ready HDMI cable with a Freesync monitor. :/

There are two separate threads on other websites where people have tried everything and eventually returned the monitor and it just works on the replacement. There is even one guy who has two of these and one works and one doesn't work (with the same cabling), my suggestion would be that you contact Samsung support just in case but failing that ask for it to be replaced.

Yeah, i had contacted Samsung support for help, they say it is the driver, but i have contacted AMD and Sapphire (gfx manufacture) and none of them says its related to their product, so i'm close to RMA the monitor for af faulty Freesync.

Anybody managed to solve this problem? I've been battling it for months, Samsung is saying the rx series is not supported (Makes no sense, plenty of people use this monitor with an rx480 or lower), xfx (my card manufacter) has no clue what's wrong and stopped replying, and AMD told me I should try a dp to hdmi cable, which I'm fairly certain isnt gonna work.

which resolution and refresh rate do you use?
free sync enabled in monitor settings?
up to date drivers installed?

HDMI 2.0 cable in use?

which exact monitor are you using?
FreeSync (S24F350FH*/S24F352FH*/
S24F354FH*/S24F356FH*/S24F359FH*/
S27F350FH*/S27F352FH*/S27F354FH*/
S27F358FW*/S27F359FH*)

S24F350FH, It's a 1080p 60hz monitor. It has a "standard freesync" and an "ultimate freesync" setting and I've tried with both, but the option on the (updated) Radeon software still says not supported. I use the cable that came with the monitor, but I've also tried a couple of amazonBasics cables with the same results.

Not at the moment. The newest driver 17... diden't fix the problem for me, i have contacted the store i brought the monitor and requested a RMA, but at the moment i can't spare my only monitor, so i have to wait a bit until i send the monitor back.

I have the same problem with my ASUS VG245H monitor. It says it's freesync, it only has HDMI. I have an MSI RX480 with latest drivers installed (17.x) via crimson app.

Windows 10 only sees the monitor as generic and ASUS has no drivers for it. Crimson, CPU-Z and others can all report the correct model number of the monitor.

Let us know if you get it fixed and I'll update you on my progress as well. I have support requests in to ASUS and MSI.

EDIT

My Freesync problem is solved. I had to enable it via the ASUS monitor's menu. It wasn't where it shows in the manual, mine was under IMAGE/MORE and it took a few tries for the MORE menu to open.

FWIW MSI support sent me this reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/401swr/mg279q_says_freesync_not_supported/

funny thing in the manual of the ASUS VG245H (probably because the 400 series wasn´t out then)

* FreeSync can only be activated within 40Hz ~ 75Hz.
* FreeSync supported AMD GPUs: AMD Radeon R9 300 Series, AMD
Radeon R9 Fury X, AMD Radeon R9 360, AMD Radeon R7 360, AMD
Radeon R9 295X2, AMD Radeon R9 290X, AMD Radeon R9 290, AMD
Radeon R9 285, AMD Radeon R7 260X, AMD Radeon R7 260

Same as my samsung's manual. Which is why Samsung isnt paying much attention to my complains, they say the rx series isnt supported, as stated in the manual.

Hi, although is a very old post I would like to help if anybody has the same problem, it was the same problem for me too. I solved it downloading the driver of the LS24F350FHLXZX here:
https://www.samsung.com/mx/support/model/LS24F350FHLXZX/

Now it is working great, I also have the last amd driver for my Gigabyte RX580 until date, that is "Radeon Software Version Adrenaline 18.7.1".
Also I'm using a cheap HDMI cable between my graphics card and my Samsung monitor.

I hope this can help.
