Freesync questions (Nvidia user)

Im in the market for a new display, and most of the displays I see that are above 60hz have freesync. Being an Nvidia gpu user, would I be able to use those higher refresh rates if I cant use freesync? or are freesync and refresh rates completely unrelated. I'm looking at a 144hz monitor and it has freesync, but im on a gtx 1060. Thanks

Freesync/GSync are variable refresh rates. The two are incompatible with each other, however, regardless of the combination you still have access to the highest refresh rates. It's just not variable.
