[SOLVED] Freesync with an HDMI to DisplayPort Adapter?

So, I found out that u can use freesync on nvidia gpus, but u need a DisplayPort. The problem is that my monitor has only HDMI and VGA, and im connected to HDMI. I'm pretty sure that's a no.
AMD got VRR over HDMI 2.0 using a proprietary extension (basically brute-forced the feature into a standard that didn't have it). In future products (with HDMI 2.1 which has this ability standard) this will be possible with Nvidia GPUs, but not yet.

I believe it's a no as well. Nvidia's opened up supports for FreeSync, but you could never do G-Sync over HDMI (just DP) and I don't see any reference of anyone using FreeSync over HDMI with a Nvidia GPU.
