So off and on since i built my computer, the whole thing will just lock up and require a hard reset.
I have tested my ram for hours (separately) and they return no errors, the problem was happening before i installed my gpu so thats likely not the cause. I do not have another psu to check my system with, but the lockups happen so infrequently it would be really hard to tell if the psu is the cause, all i can do is guess whats causing it.
To me if i had to pick a part that is probably malfunctioning i would say its the motherboard.
Anyone else have any opinions or expertise on the matter?
I suspect its the motherboard because while the system powered, the usb ports connected to the mobo stop giving off power all the fans connected to the psu are still running, as well as the CPU fan.
Other than that i dont know how to diagnose the problem, another characteristic of the crash is any audio i am listening to at the time will just stop/stutter not continuously playing it makes a repeating sound similar to the last note or sound played.
If it is the motherboard I believe it still has warranty, it is an asus p8z77-v lk.
If it comes down to it, should i bother with an RMA or just go out and purchase a new mobo
{any recommendations for an i5 3570k mobo?}
