Freezing up Issues/Windows 7/Not sure where to start with troubleshooting

I have an issue and it might be a windows 7 issue because my last pc before I built this one had some of the same issues. Please be patient with my wording because it's kind of hard to describe but I'll do my best and i'll make sure to post my computer specs after my explanation. No matter what I'm doing whether its playing a game, watching a movie on my pc or watching youtube because it happens very randomly. My computer will lock up. My screen won't freeze at first. It will go into a slow motion sort of phase and all my devices "ex: Mouse,KB" will die meaning it will no longer register mouse movement or kb clicks. If audio was playing at that time "ex: youtube,movie" the sound becomes distorted and slows down and my pc alerts me at last second that audio has been unplugged (which it hasn't) It basically kills all devices plugged into my pc. Everytime I have to reset and everything goes back to normal but the weird part is it does it Randomly. It can happen 3 to 4 times a day or it can happen a few times a month. I don't know the trigger because it's happend when idle, playing a game, watching media, browsing the internet. How would I go about troubleshooting this?

-Motherboard is a GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 R5 (rev. 1.0) AM3+/AM3 AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

-Processor is an AMD FX-8370 8-Core 4.0 GHz (4.3 GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W with a after market cooler master hyper 212x

-14 Gigs of DDR3 Ram

-Video Card is a EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 DirectX 12 06G-P4-6368-KR 6GB 192-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 FTW+

-PSU is a EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G1 120-G1-0750-XR 80+ GOLD 750W

-OS is Windows 7 pro SP1 and Fully Updated

I'm guessing but I think it might have something to do with the odd assortment of ram you have if you truely do have 14GB. You'd need three 4gb stick and a 2gb.

I would run Memtest86+ overnight and see if there are any errors. Otherwise drop down to whichever two came as a kit and try just running thos two.
