Hi,

I've having a problem with my new system, and I'm pretty sure it is a problem with my video card.

Here's my system:
AMD Phenom X6 1055
4 gigs of OCZ DDR3 1600
Sapphire ATI 4770
Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3H mobo, flashed to latest BIOS
Windows 7 x64

Here's the problem,
When I plug my ATI 5770 into the motherboard and hook up the monitor to the card, the entire screen will just freeze within 5 minutes of start up. I have to restart the system, only in order to have it happen again. This only started happening recently. I built my system a few days ago--worked fine for the first 2 days. Day 3 this problem started to happen.

Now, my motherboard has an onboard 4290 on it, so I tried taking my 5770 out and hooking up my monitor to the onboard 4290. No problems here. Works fine when I do this.

What would be causing the freezes with the 5770?

Thanks,
Zinster

Do you have Sapphire Ati 4770 or Ati 5770 ? Is 4770 a typo ? Why do you say "When I plug my ATI 5770 into the motherboard and hook up the monitor..." ?

When you built your computer, you installed all hardware. Therefore, why say "plug my Ati5770" ?

As I understand, you have on-board video chip and it is working with its drivers installed. Now you plug Radeon HD5770 in and it is causing problems. Then please do what ortoklaz said. CCC does not work for HD5770 when it was installed for 4290.

Yes, thank you guys. 4770 was a typo.

Installing the new catalyst driver 10.4 worked. No problems now.

:)

Thanks again,
Zinster

edit: I also get this problem. My screen will shut off for 1-2 seconds, then it will pop up again. In the lower corner it says "Displayer driver AMD driver stopped working but has recovered successfully."

I'm using the new 10.4 catalyst, so what could cause this?
