So, I finally got Win98 and all necessary drivers installed to my new hard drive. I also installed 256 megs more memory, and a 300 W power supply to replace my old 250W one. Unfortunately, my computer now tends to freeze up completely when I run certain programs, or sometimes completely at random. This freezing does not always occur at the same point in the programs that bomb, and often happens completely spontaneously. I thought perhaps my new memory was to blame, but the comp runs fine off my old hard drive, so I guess not. Any idea what could be going wrong? Thanks.

1. I'd suggest being sure that your computer runs fine wit the old hard drive. As you said, it freezes at random, you might just have not caught the problem with the old drive, while it might be the same there too.

2. If you somehow make sure its your new drive thats causing up the problem. Then first run Scandisk (full surface scan) on your drive. Then boot into Command Prompt Only mode and delete the swap file Win386.Swp from your new hard disk (may be in the root directory or the Windows directory). Now reboot an check if the problem persists.
