Hi I have made my own pc in the last few weeks. This is my first time and i say it has been good but every time i have it on at some time in point it freezes. I dont no if it is the hard drive has a grinding noise when i load up files. The mother board dropped ram on it. Ram If i add 8gb it freezes almost instanly when i boot up into the desktop screen(works fine in other pc (alienware).) Or something else if I turn up the fans using the inbuilt fan controller it usually freezes then too. Here is my computers specs:

Intel core i7
nVidia 560ti
Asus IV formula
Wd 1tb
Blue ray opticle drive.
Corsair ax1200 (1200 watt)
8 or 16gb of ram
NZXT Phantom 410 Case

I can't think of a reason why any of those components minus the HDD might cause freezing really?

It's probably software issues. Have to tried to reformat?

Check your CPU temp GPU temp

Set your ram Volts and timming in the Bios

Update your mobo bios

install all the new drivers and update Windows and your other hardwhare

Run a memtest with all your ram one stick at a time. ( about 4 to 6 hours will do )

reseat your GPU

make sure all your cable are fit snug

make sure no part are grounded out

No it just freezes no warning nothing. I have to restart it. If it was software related it would show that something wasn't responding.
