Hi,

I've been having bsod for more than three months using my pc. I've already done a couple of things like clean installing windows, running memtest, scanning for corrupted files, resetting bios, updating bios and drivers (from motherboard's site) but I am still getting bsod.

When running Whocrashed, I get error: 0xc0000 21a, 0xEF and 0x154 The conclusion says that I should search updates for these drivers: ntdll.sys

Here are the minidumps:

Here are my pc specifications:
- OS: windows 10 version 1803
- Motherboard: MSI Z170A PC MATE
- Intel(R) Core (TM) i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00 GHz
- physical memory: 16gb
- SSD: sandisk Cloudspeed 892 GB
- videocard: GTX 1080

Any help would we greatly appreciated.

Solution
Troubleshooting
Intel CPU - https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool
RAM - Memtest86. Run on 1 stick at a time, up to 8 passes.Any errors higher then 0 is too high and ram should be removed/replaced
SSD - HDTune - look on the health tab and let it run a SMART scan. Check all scores say ok
GPU - Benchmarks like Uniengine

The items that remain are harder to test - Motherboard & PSU. It is normally a process of elimination, you test everything else 1st. If they all work out, then only real way to test if its motherboard is use another one you know works, and swap it in. Same for PSU. I would suggest taking PC to repair store if it gets to these 2 items, as they should...
Fatal System error, Critical Process dies & Unexpected Store Exception... nice collection of errors you have there. First two of them are windows errors, not driver errors. 3rd can be hard drive or drivers but the fix below will figure that out

ntdll.sys is part of windows kernel, there is no way to download it. It depends on where it on PC as if its not in the driver folder, it can be a virus.

Try doing this and see if it can fix the ntdll.sys problem - https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16397-repair-install-windows-10-place-upgrade.html

I didn't read the dump files, I worked that out searching for file name and found similar links with Critical Process died - see here for example

I've tried it but when I use windows media creation to updrade the pc I get a bsod during the download. I get bsod every time its downloading.

Update: I'm reinstalling windows 10 from bootable usb then try again to updrade via the media creation tool. I'll keep you guys updated

I clean installed windows 10 and did and doing In-place Upgrade but after a week of use I got a BSOD today. Whrocrashed spits out 0xEF as the error. What can I do next?

I've downloaded my motherboard's utility tool and ran it. And it turns out, some drivers from Intel (chipset,..) where not installed. Hopefully this will solve the problem thanks!

Hi, I ran the dump files through the debugger and got the following information: https://pste.eu/p/LECF.html

It appears you have the latest BIOS available for your system.

I can't help you with this. Wait for additional replies. Good luck.

I don't know if you need this - no need removing if PC is working fine

Mar 23 2015 - bcbtums.sys - Broadcom Bluetooth Firmware Download Filter driver

as it appears to be for updating firmware which isn't something you do every day. I also don't see any other Bluetooth drivers (though might use windows ones) and I assume its for an add on card?

After using my pc a couple of hours I got suddenly a black screen with everything gone except my mouse cursor. I could not open new windows or acces the task manager. What does this say in relation with bsod that I get?

Were you playing game when it went black? Did monitor turn off and show any error messages like no signal?

Tried booting off the USB and going into the repair screen?
change boot order so USB is first, hdd second
boot from installer
on screen after languages, choose repair this pc, not install.
choose troubleshoot
choose advanced
choose start up repair - this will scan PC and maybe fix this - will ask for logon info

Tried going into safe mode? I have found the startup menu isn't there booting off USB but its worth a try
boot from installer, on 2nd screen after languages, choose repair this pc, not install
choose troubleshoot
choose advanced
choose start up options
hit the restart button
choose a safe mode (it doesn't matter which) by using number associated with it.
Pc will restart and load safe mode

If startup options menu isn't an option, see if system restore has a recent date and roll back to it. That might fix this.

If you still get a black screen booting off USB, have you tried removing GPU and attaching monitor cable to the motherboard connectors and see if you get a picture?

I've reseating all hardware components and even replaced watercooling (which was a bit noisy) with a new cpu cooler. It worked fine for almost a week but then I got a bsod when I did nothing. Just casual pc usage. I did not play any games or did not do any heavy tasking. After the bsod I get It now every couple minutes even in safe mode. I suspect it's hardware related. What is the best way to troubleshoot hardware, for ex motherboard?

Test rest before worrying about motherboard/PSU.

Another thought is I would follow instructions at top of this page and then post here, and see
if they can work out cause for you. They have more people who can help with dump files there -

Honestly I don't know what causes Unexpected Store exceptions, I would love to know, so if ten forums can help, please come back and tell me what it was.

Solution

I've replaced the ssd with a harddrive that has windows 8 on it. I don't get bsod's right now. Hopefully I don't get any bsod's in the future. Anyway thanks, I'll let you know in a couple of weeks.
