I recently upgraded my old computer to AMD FX-9590 and a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 rev 4.0 motherboard. I also added a front panel USB and Noctua NH-D15 cooler. The system was previously stable, but after upgrade, I kept having situations where the USB would disconnect all devices for 60 seconds or so, then remount them and occasional hard freezes. I reinstalled Windows and I haven't seen the USB issues since, but I'm still seeing occasional hard freezes. I can't recreate it consistently, but happens most frequently when doing Lightroom exports. My files are on an external USB 3.0 drive, so this may be tied to heavy USB bus use. I'm not sure. It crashes every few hours, which realy limits its usability. Any idea what might be going on?

I'm running Memtest86. It's only halfway through, but found 17 errors that all seem to be a memory value being 1 character off in a way that matches a single bit flip. Temperature has never gone above 78 C. I take it cooling is fine and I need to test my DIMMs one pair at a time? Same memory worked fine before, but I understand higher performance systems can cause failure.

I'd test similar DIMMs together without the other ones.

One warning ahead of time: not every 9590 issue can in fact be resolved without downclocking it to an 8350. If you can still return the 9590, I absolutely would, given what a nightmare of a CPU it is to deal with and no payoff that's proportional the effort.
