I've reached out to @WindowsSupport a few times and am repeatedly directed to generic support pages or subscription-based support pages so at this point, Tom's was my first (and only known) choice as I don't often need OS support.
That said, since upgrading to Windows 10 (from Windows 8.1) my system will periodically lose sound -- not during activity but only after the system has been idle for an extended period of time. The only way to correct the issue is to reboot the system which isn't something I'm inclined to do on a daily basis given the forced updates by Windows 10.
I've tried upgrading my sound card drivers as well as uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, with no luck. I currently use an Insignia 42" (Model: NS-42L550A11) as my monitor, connected via HDMI, and have never had this issue before (using Windows 8.1 prior).
When the loss of sound occurs, I can see that under Playback Devices, the default speakers have activity but my TV does not. When using Windows troubleshooting, it doesn't detect any issue. This is not a TV related issue either as I'm able to toggle between various inputs (console, cable, etc) and all have sound.
Again, this isn't a system-breaking issue but an awfully annoying inconvenience that seemingly can't be fixed.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
