fresh install no updates

I did a fresh install of Windows 7 on my laptop but after one whole day of trying several things was not able to get the check for updates to work. It just hangs forever. My laptop is Asus UX31a. How do I get the latest drivers updated. Last time everything got fixed with the automatic Windows update.

This is pretty common, you're just going to have to wait. It will happen eventually.

You have to install windows update client fix KB3112343 (stop windows update service before installing).

I installed this KB3102810 on 3 recent computers in the past 2 weeks with the most recent being on this past Saturday afternoon. started in the early evening to install windows & finished the updates by that midnight.
