Hi there,

I am having an issue doing a fresh install of Windows 10. I have downloaded Windows 10 using the media creation tool from Microsoft's website and have re-downloaded it once to write as a .iso image. So far I have tried using the burned CD and tried using a USB stick.

Secure boot is off and fast boot are off.

Each time, my install gets stuck on "Getting files ready for installation (23%)". I have tried it several different ways from resetting the BIOS, updating the BIOS through the EZ Flash utility on my ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition Motherboard, removing the 4 unnecessary SSDs and HDDs. I have taken the SSD out and formatted it using another computer and diagnostic program. I do not have another SSD or HDD to try it out on as my others are full with important data.

Any suggestions that I haven't tried would be most helpful.

Thank you,
Logical Processing

My Hardware Specs are as followed:

i7 4820 Ivy Bridge Liquid Cooled
Corsair Platinum 32GB Quad Channel @2133mhz
Asus Rampage IV Black Edition
Corsair AX1200i 1200 watt power supply
AMD Radeon 295x2
2 ASUS DVD Drives
2 512GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD's
2 1TB Western Digital Black Internal HDD's
1 2TB Western Digital External HDD

Make sure you are using a USB2(black) port nad go through these steps(generic):

Download the Media Creation Tool from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10/ and make a bootable USB wiht it.

Get the latest drivers from here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25165/Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Intel-RST-RAID-Driver?product=55005
File: f6flpy-x64.zip. Unzip it to a folder on a USB drive(it can be the one with windows on it).

Disconnect all other drives except the one you are installing to.

Go into the BIOS and disable "CSM" and enable "Secure boot" in the Boot section.

Start the install and when it asks where to install hit "have disk" and point it to the folder you put the above files in...

**WARNING: THE FOLLOWING WILL WIPE AND ENTIRE DISK, NOT JUST A PARTITION**

Then hit SHIFT+F10 and:
diskpart
list disk
select disk x(where x is the drive in case)
clean
convert gpt
exit
exit

Hit refresh, select the clean drive, and the "new". Windows will create several partition and auto-select the correct one to install to(you can also set the size of the partition after hitting "new", but you don't need to if you are using the whole drive).

Thank you for your quick response. I have just located the problem and windows 10 is installing beautifully after 3 long hours. It appears to be a problem with my RAM which I quickly replaced with a spare set. Only further diagnostics of the RAM units will reveal the source of the problem. However I think it is safe to say that the problem is due to old RAM modules.

Thank you again
