Fresh install Windows 7 searching for updates over 24 hours

I've done about 5 different clean installs this week and have attempted multiple fixes form other forums when it comes to searching for updates. The last install which I started yesterday at 7am pacific time is still going for over 24 hours, Once I registered the product key and activated windows it found a new update for the client and since then it's been searching. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again!

Did you install SP1 after the clean install?? If you didn't I would get this manually then install it. KB976932

Time to put it to bed and go with Linux or Win10

Service pack 1 is already installed from the cd version that I have. After I activated windows it prompted me to download and install a windows update agent which was windows update agent 7.6.7600.320 and since then it's been searching for updates.

I understand Corroded but I would really like to give Windows 10 another year before I upgrade.

You could use advanced system care to update your windows. Do the scan and be sure to check vulnerable fix. This has the scan to look for updates.

I dont / wouldn't trust any programs from there

It never crossed my mind to download from that site I am posting on different forums and boy people have different ways to get around this update issue.

Its one of the top programs on Cnet and has awards from pc mag and pc world. I've used it without issue for years. Number 5 on the right side.
