I'm getting a new ssd (SAMSUNG 850 EVO 120GB SATA III ) and even though i originally was going to migrate my data everyone says its better to just do a fresh installation of windows. How do i do this and what will happen to my HDD afterwards, will i still be able to use it, will i have to delete the window files and how would i do this and will it keep all my data like steam games and files that were originally stored on it.

Also will I still need my product key?

Doing a fresh install will need the product key and if you want all of the game data and files youll need to move those over. The old hard drive with windows on it will no longer become active because you are using it on the new drive. You will still be able to get files off of the old drive though.

And If you dont have much data to migrate then It will be fine to migrate. It might be slow at first but after a few days of usage everything should speed back up.
