Fresh Win 8 Install Not Activated Problems With Win 10?

Hi All

Hope someone can help out.

I installed a fresh copy of win 8 though it is not activated and would like to know will this effect a new Win 10 install later tonight.

I've already signed up for Win 10 via email about a month ago.

Also have a product key for Win 8.

I tried when first installing and it asked for win 8 or 8.1 and I choose 8.1 but have a 8 key thinking that would be fine but looks like I'm wrong.
Could ring up that Microsoft activation though I find it to stressful especially if I only have to wait a few hours.

You should only have to wait a few minutes on the phone with microsoft, don't stress it.
Since it's a fresh install, you might as well reinstall in windows 8, use the key, and then properly update it to windows 8.1/just wait for the 10 upgrade to roll out.
